The wildflowers are amazing at this time of year in the Rocky Mountains, especially near the streams. We see Chiming Bells (the blue ones) Parry's Primrose (pink) and many other flowers of all colors anywhere it is wet. There is even a pink one called Elephant Head, as each little flower on the stem looks like an elephant's head with a trunk sticking out from the center. They are fun to try and identify, and even more fun to paint! This painting is just a little 6x8.

I like the brushwork and the blending of the colors. The handling of the water is great.
ReplyDeleteThanks Anthony. I do wish I could get a better photo. The darks aren't really dark enough in the photo...it looks a bit faded.
ReplyDeleteJoanne this is a beautiful painting! I agree with everything that Anthony said...lovely.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love the wildflowers? I like to paint them too. I find them so distracting. Here they are alongside the road. When sunlight hits them, its hard to focus on the driving...
ReplyDeleteThanks Janice and Susan! One of the things I really enjoy about hiking is the wildflowers. They aren't quite as easy to see here near the road, but hiking allows you to get up close and personal, especially near the streams.
